Mahoney Architects employs an interactive architectural process in designing your home or addition.  We meet with you and progressively develop a design solution meeting your needs.  The process can span 6 weeks to 6 months, or longer, depending upon our level of involvement, the size of your project, and your time requirements.

Typically, the process evolves through two or three stages:  

• Schematic Design is the first stage of discerning your needs and ideas and marrying these with the existing character and context of your home and surrounding environment. Internally, the major spaces are defined, and externally the overall character of the house and site is developed.

• In large projects, we implement an intermediate stage of design, Design Development, where a design is carefully fine-tuned, interior and exterior details are developed, and the major spaces are further developed.

• Working Drawings are the final stage of the design process. Fully dimensioned, detailed plans, elevations, sections and details are produced to fully document the project. These are the drawings, which will be used by the contractor to build the house or addition.  Prior to construction, we meet again with you and your chosen contractor and "walk through" the details of your design.

Mahoney Architects is also available to assist with interior design including finishes, colors and material selection.  We are available to assist in the project throughout the construction process.
